Lowering the cost and improving control of horticultural LED lighting
General Session
Sponsored By
The traditional approach to powering LED lighting in greenhouses and indoor farms, which involves having a power supply or driver attached to every light fixture, is wasteful and expensive. Using a centralized power source outside the grow area can significantly reduce the installation or conversion costs as well offering substantial ongoing savings on power consumption and HVAC costs. The improved control and monitoring offered by the centralized power approach also offers significant savings. This presentation will present real customer case study examples.

Impacts of Active Ingredients on Plants
General Session
Sponsored By
Mycorrhizae and Bacillus are increasingly known in horticulture. Those active ingredients have proven to give growers the return on investment they are looking for. Learn how these microorganisms work alone and how, together, they become even more efficient and profitable.

Mycorrhizal Fungi: Practical Guidance for Growers
General Session
Sponsored By
The use of mycorrhizal fungal inoculants has gained popularity in the last few years in ornamental and horticultural production. Growers use mycorrhizal inoculants to increase water and nutrient uptake, promote vegetative growth, enhance plant health, reduce stress effects on the plants, etc. These inoculants are widely accepted as potential alternatives or complements to chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Mycorrhizal inoculants contain living organisms that require special attention and knowledge of their compatibility with other production technology elements. In this session, attendees will learn about how these organisms affect water and nutrient availability, how long they persist in the soil, how the growing media/substrates are affected on a physical and chemical level by these inoculants, and how these organisms can be combined with traditional pesticides and fertilizers. This session will help growers understand how to make the best decision about which of these inoculant products will benefit their production and provide maximum return on investment.

Automation & Light Control in the Greenhouse
General Session
Sponsored By
Automation for lighting control in greenhouses is key to regulate the photo period to control flowering, or to increase growth to increase crop quality and yield… Light is an essential element, and it is not always available in its natural form to address our needs. Join Jeff Neff, Applications Services Technical Lead from Argus Controls, on this webinar and learn from our panel of experts the technologies available (and how to use them) to maximize natural and artificial light in your facility to achieve better results.

Using Biological Control Agents to Hunt Down the Mini-Freaky-Aliens in Your Greenhouse
General Session
Sponsored By

Insect pests reproduce rapidly, can adapt to new environments, can develop resistance, and can occupy areas that are difficult to penetrate with insecticidal applications. An increasingly successful and common practice in the greenhouse industry involves the use of predators and parasitic wasps to maintain undetectable densities of pests. Join us in this webinar to learn about integrating biological control agents into a greenhouse management program, how to develop pest thresholds, the role that insecticides play in biological control programs, and how to get started.
